Courtney Tanaka, owner and PT

Hi! I'm Courtney. Mom, runner, sports lover, and the PT who is actually going to listen to you.

I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy, board certified orthopedic specialist, and the founder of ReNew Me Physical Therapy and Wellness in Maple Grove. I see patients in clinic and travel across the Twin Cities for in-home visits. And I built this practice because moms deserve better than a generic exercise sheet and a pat on the back.

Why I Started ReNew Me

You got your 6-week clearance. Your doctor said everything looks fine. But something still feels off and nobody seems to have time to figure out why.

I saw that story play out over and over again in traditional clinic settings. Moms coming in after one of the most physically demanding experiences of their lives and walking out with the same generic program as everyone else. Cookie-cutter care dictated by insurance, not by what their bodies actually needed.

After 13 years of watching that happen, I got tired of it. I wanted to actually help people. So I built something different.

ReNew Me is a practice built entirely around you. Your goals, your body, your timeline. No rushing through a protocol. No generic handouts. Just real, one-on-one care from someone who genuinely understands what pregnancy and postpartum does to a body and what it actually takes to feel strong and capable again.

Why I Do This Work

Because I'm a runner and a mom and I have been that person standing at the starting line of a race wondering if my body was going to hold up. I know what it feels like to want your athletic identity back and to be told to just rest, wait, and see.

That's not good enough. You deserve a real plan, real answers, and someone who actually gets the physical demands of pregnancy and postpartum recovery from both sides of the table. The clinical side and the "I just want to run a 5k without peeing my pants" side.

And yes, your kids can absolutely be there. I've rocked babies, answered questions about dinosaurs, and sung Broadway tunes mid-session. Fully professional. Mostly.

A little more about me

Outside of the clinic you'll find me shuttling my two boys to baseball, playing softball myself, squeezing in a round of golf, hunting down the best new restaurant in the Twin Cities, or planning the next family trip somewhere with good wine and great food. I'm a sports lover through and through, women's sports especially, a monthly book reviewer, and someone who will never turn down a brewery visit.

I take my work seriously. Myself? Not so much.

Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) A board certification held by fewer than 5% of physical therapists in the US. Earned through advanced clinical hours and a rigorous examination in orthopedics and movement science. This is the highest level of orthopedic expertise in the PT field — and it's what I bring specifically to prenatal and postpartum care.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PPCES) Specialized training in the unique movement, strength, and recovery needs of pregnant and postpartum women.

Pelvic Floor Training — Fitness Forward, Level 1 Additional training in pelvic floor function as it relates to exercise, movement, and postpartum recovery.
